What This Tool Does

Pages to images: Renders PDF pages as PNG or JPG images at your chosen resolution.

One page or all: Leave the page field empty to convert every page, or enter a number for just one.

Packaged output: A single page downloads as an image; multiple pages arrive as a ZIP archive.

How to Convert a PDF to Images

  1. Upload the PDF you want to convert.
  2. Choose PNG for sharp text and flat graphics, or JPG for photographic pages and smaller files.
  3. Pick a resolution: 72, 150 or 200 DPI.
  4. Enter a page number for a single page, or leave it blank to convert them all.
  5. Download the image, or the ZIP if you converted several pages.

Choosing a Resolution

  • 72 DPI produces small files suitable for on-screen previews and thumbnails.
  • 150 DPI is the default and is a sensible balance for reading and for most web use.
  • 200 DPI gives the most detail and the largest files, which helps when text is small or you intend to crop in.

PNG or JPG

PNG uses lossless compression, so text edges and line art stay crisp and nothing is blurred by the encoding. It is the better default for documents, screenshots and diagrams.

JPG uses lossy compression, which produces noticeably smaller files for pages that are mostly photographs. On dense text it can introduce faint artefacts around letters, so prefer PNG when legibility matters.

Limits

  • One PDF per conversion.
  • When converting every page, the document is capped at 150 pages.
  • Requests are rate limited to ten per minute from the same address.
  • Resolution is restricted to the three options above.

Common Use Cases

  • Getting a page out of a PDF to use in a slide or document.
  • Producing a preview image of a document cover.
  • Sharing a single page with someone who cannot open PDFs easily.
  • Extracting a chart or figure that was only published as a PDF.

Limitations

The output is a raster image, so the text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. Converting an image back into a PDF will not restore that text layer.

This tool needs a PDF rendering engine on the server. If none is available the request fails with a clear message rather than returning a broken file. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.

Privacy and Processing

Rendering happens on our server, so the PDF is uploaded. It is used only to generate your images, the download is removed after it is sent, and temporary files are cleared automatically.

PDF to Image Converter FAQ

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG is lossless and keeps text and line art crisp, which makes it the better choice for documents and diagrams. JPG produces smaller files and suits photographic pages, but can add faint artefacts around small text.

Which DPI should I pick?

Use 72 DPI for small on-screen previews, 150 DPI as a general-purpose default, and 200 DPI when text is small or you intend to crop into the image. Higher DPI means more detail and a larger file.

How do I convert only one page?

Enter that page number in the page field. Leave the field empty to convert every page in the document.

Why did I get a ZIP file?

A single page downloads as one image. When you convert several pages, the images are packaged into a ZIP archive so they can be delivered together.

Is there a page limit?

Yes. When converting every page, the document is capped at 150 pages. Requests are also limited to ten per minute from the same address.

Will the text in the image still be selectable?

No. The output is a raster image, so the text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. Converting the image back into a PDF will not restore the text layer.
